POSITION SUMMARY

Equis is seeking a strong manager with some research chops to lead the day-to-day operations of a small team of analysts as a Lab Manager. Within the broader Research Department, the analysis team supports the design, analysis, and interpretation of a wide variety of research projects–including polling, focus groups, message testing, and field experiments—that aim to deepen our understanding of how to reach and engage Latinos in the political process. The Lab Manager, reporting to the Chief Analyst, will be responsible for the project and people management within the analysis team: everything from hiring, budgets, and calendars, to assisting with data collection and other analysis tasks as needed. In short, the job is to manage the capacity of the team and drive its daily work. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• In collaboration with the Chief Analyst, build out and manage a small team of analysts who support Equis projects involving the design and interpretation of polls, message tests, field experiments, and more.
• Own the analysis team calendar 
• Track team and individual workloads to ensure our capacity matches our commitments
• Assist team members with individual work plans, time management, and work-life balance. 
• Run team meetings, including developing agendas, keeping notes, and tracking action items
• Coordinate with other internal departments to ensure work is completed on time
• Help set and uphold standards for data management, documentation, and version control
• Organize and maintain analysis team documents on the Equis Google Drive
• Assist with data collection and other analysis tasks as needed 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Outstanding project management and time management skills, with experience working in a research-oriented environment
• Familiarity with the processes and standards of rigorous scientific research
• Well-organized with impeccable attention to detail
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets
• Ability to handle multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment; flexible and able to adapt to evolving priorities
• Experience or demonstrated ability to manage multiple team members who work remotely
• An understanding of how racial/ethnic bias can influence scientific research, including data collection and analysis
• Commitment to the core Equis goal of enhancing the well-being and power of the Latino community

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Familiarity with the workings of political campaigns and/or advocacy groups
• Familiarity with polling data, census data, precinct-level election results, or voter files
• Experience with data collection and management
• Experience working in STATA, R, or equivalent statistical software

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• The ability to communicate with colleagues, partners, and clients via phone, video call, and email
• A high tolerance for virtual meetings 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Equis is a national remote office environment with team members located across all continental U.S. time zones. Candidates should be prepared to either work from home or at a location of their choosing that is located within the continental United States.  

This position requires the ability to work core hours Monday through Friday in your local time. This position will require occasional evenings and some in-person attendance for all-staff or department-level events, approximately 2 per year, which require overnight travel. 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This is a fully remote (USA only), full-time position, with a competitive salary range of $90,000-$115,000 p/year. This salary range represents a good-faith estimate of what Equis may pay for this position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as budget availability and commensurate with the selected candidates’ experience.
